A rollover crash on Highway 40 near Park City early Friday morning left a man in critical condition and briefly closed the heavily used Summit County commuter route.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the accident occurred at 6:24 a.m. when a eastbound van went out of control on a slippery patch of the highway. The van slid into the median and then into the westbound lanes before rolling onto the shoulder. No other vehicles were involved.

Johnson said the driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, but sustained head trauma as the van rolled.
A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene and flew the injured man to a Salt Lake City hospital.
Initially, all lanes were closed. However, by 7:30 a.m. one lane had been opened and backed up traffic was trickling through, and by 8:30 a.m. all lanes had been reopened.
