In "Bring back the draft" (Forum, Nov. 25), Stewart Owen argues that our country should reactivate a military draft. This might hurt the country rather than help it.

As Owen pointed out, volunteers currently supply our needed troops. Isn't it better to have someone willing to go out and defend us, rather than someone forced to fight simply because they were randomly selected to do so?

A decision that large should be a choice, not something forced upon someone else.
