A suspicious package put personnel at Salt Lake City International Airport briefly on alert early Monday morning.

As a precaution, airport hazardous materials staff responded when the package was spotted in the lower B Concourse of the airport about 6:30 a.m.

However, by 7:45 a.m. authorities had cleared the scene. Airport spokesman Dave Korzep said Southwest Airlines flights, which depart from that area of the terminal, were on schedule and no passenger interruptions were reported.

The package turned out to be a lost, but harmless envelope. Cleaning crews spotted it and alerted authorities, Korzep said.
