In just three days, Summit County deputies said they seized nearly 145 pounds of marijuana during two separate traffic stops.

The biggest bust came Saturday when deputies stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation near Wanship.

After a drug dog alerted them to drugs inside, deputies said they searched the vehicle and discovered 104 pounds of marijuana inside the trunk.

On Thursday, deputies were working with DEA agents when they stopped a vehicle on Interstate 80 near Silver Creek Junction for a minor traffic violation.

A deputy who approached the driver reported smelling marijuana and searched the vehicle. Inside a tool box on the bed of the vehicle, deputies said they discovered about 40 pounds of marijuana. Deputies also seized several thousand dollars in U.S. currency along with some firearms.

Both drivers were arrested on suspicion of multiple charges.

Including the two most recent seizures, Summit County deputies said they've seized nearly 200 pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars in U.S. currency in the past two week alone.
