A lot of valley rain, some mountain snow and plenty of wind are coming to Utah on Sunday, giving way to a mild Monday.

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City predicts a likely chance of rain after 11 a.m. on Sunday, increasing to 90 percent chance by the evening for Northern Utah. Non-accumulating snowfall is limited to the mountains from Ogden to Logan for most of the state, though Wendover and Duchesne can expect a likely chance of snow regardless of elevation.

Cedar City can also expect rain and mountain snow, though with only a 20 percent chance during the day and a 60 percent chance for overnight precipitation. Moab and St. George only have a slight chance of rain Sunday night into Monday morning.

Meteorologists expect strong winds to accompany the cloudy skies and precipitation across much of the state. Variable winds will increase to about 25 mph by Sunday afternoon, with gusts that could reach as high as about 40 mph. By evening, the wind will drop to about 15 to 25 mph, depending on the area, though the gusts could remain as strong.

The winds are expected to diminish to about 8 mph by Monday. But the earlier forecast for a chance of snow in northern Utah for Monday morning is gone, replaced by partly sunny skies.

The Utah Division of Environmental Quality issued "green" or good air quality ratings statewide through Monday.

Weather • Forecasters call for 90 percent chance of precipitation by Sunday night.
