Street car workers strike on Main Street in Salt Lake City. The strike started on Sunday April 28, 1907, and ended the following day, B.H. Roberts helped mediate and Utah Light and Railway management and the strikers were able to come to an agreement. A man named Joseph Jones was onboard the street car in this photo when he was assaulted by a group of strikers. A Salt Lake Tribune article reported the incident like this: "The crowd started to devote its attention to Jones. He was treated to a shower of eggs and drew his gun. He announced he would shoot the next man who struck him. A man grabbed his revolver from behind and took it from him. Jones was knocked down and kicked... At this point Policeman Lyon appeared and took charge of Jones. He was escorted to the police station, where he remained until the crowd found a new diversion in badgering a street car conductor and forgot all about him."
