A man apparently committed suicide by leaping from an overpass, triggering a brief closure of a section of FrontRunner commuter rail near Salt Lake City's North Temple Street on Tuesday.

Salt Lake City police said Wednesday that the incident remained under investigation, but it appeared the 67-year-old man's unattended, deadly plunge was not an accident.

Construction workers reported seeing the man at the overpass railing, not seeing him a moment later, and then finding his body under a nearby viaduct.

Though the body did not land on the tracks, police had Utah Transit Authority close down the rails in that area from 11:40 a.m. to about noon Tuesday.

Given that the case was being investigated as a suicide, police were not releasing the man's name.
