A man died Thursday when his single-engine plane crashed in a remote area north of Morgan.
The man, who was not immediately identified, left the Morgan County Airport for Logan at 6:30 a.m. but never arrived. His family, with some pilot friends, started looking for him and spotted his crashed plane about five miles north of the Morgan airport, said Morgan County sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Grose.

They called 911 about 4 p.m., and an hour and a half later, the deputies found the man’s body and aircraft in a remote area of mountains and canyons. The man was the only one on board.
The sheriff’s office held off identifying the man, who is about 50, until more family members have been notified, though Grose said that he was a very experienced pilot, having flown in the military and privately.
Emergency responders reached the remote crash site by helicopter or all-terrain vehicles. As of 8 p.m., they were still working on recovering the body.
Once deputies document the scene, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will take over the investigation.
