Prosecutors accuse Estell of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy at an apartment near 100 North Redwood Road around June 11, 2008. According to court documents, the alleged victim was at a sleepover at a friend’s apartment, and Estell came over without permission. It was not detailed in court documents whether Estell knew the boy or his family.
Estell allegedly started watching TV with the three boys who were having the sleepover when he began to touch the 10-year-old on the back, buttocks and penis. The boy allegedly asked Estell to stop.
After falling asleep that night, the 10-year-old boy woke up when Estell began performing oral sex on him, the alleged victim later told police.
It was unclear Wednesday why it took several years to file charges. Attempts to reach Salt Lake County prosecutors were unsuccessful.
Estell is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Nov. 16.
Estell was also accused of molesting a 14-year-old boy in September 2010 on a Utah Transit Authority TRAX train. The boy told investigators that Estell sat down next to him on the train and began brushing his arm against the boy’s shorts, touching his genitals, according to charging documents.
Estell pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of sexual battery and was sentenced to 93 days in jail.
