A 55-year-old Hurricane man is accused of having sex with horses.

Authorities charged the man Wednesday with six counts of bestiality, a class B misdemeanor, in Washington County's 5th District Court.

Police said the man admitted to them he would walk down the highway at night and enter a ranch, according to a probable cause affidavit. Once he made it through the gate, police said the man would enter the barn, retrieve a halter, take a bag of horse food and leave.

He told police he would use the food to lure a horse, and after he "catches" it, have sex with the animal.

The illicit liaisons came to a halt in mid-October after the man's sister called police to report that she found "several items" that made her think her brother was having sex with a horse, court documents show.

The man also has been charged with burglary of a building, a third-degree felony, and theft and criminal trespass, both class B misdemeanors.
