If you'd like to volunteer in Salt Lake City, here's your chance. The city is seeking volunteers across a wide variety of activities and services.

From tidying up parks and gardens for winter, or learning how to be prepared for emergencies, there's a way for everyone to get involved.

Onetime or ongoing volunteer opportunities are available to residents, organizations and groups throughout the city.

Some service opportunities include Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), English Skills Learning Center and leaf-raking.

Upcoming opportunities include:

Dec. 1 • World AIDS Day from 4 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. at Washington Square, 450 S. State St. Volunteers will help set up hundreds of luminaries.

Dec. 7 (ongoing) • Volunteers are needed at the Intermodal Hub to help novice users of the new Utah County extension of FrontRunner.
