A Syracuse couple who died in a murder-suicide Monday both died of gunshot wounds, police say.
Investigators believe Gary Lee Lucero, 41, shot his wife, 39-year-old Jessica A. Lucero, before turning the gun on himself.

They were found in a home near 900 South and 2100 West at 8 a.m. Monday. Syracuse police Lt. Tracy Jensen said a relative had called police to report that she had looked in a window of the house and could see Gary Lucero’s body on a chair.
"[Gary Lucero] made a phone call to [the relative] prior to ending his life," Jensen said Tuesday morning, explaining how the relative knew to go to the home.
Jensen could not say whether the phone call was made before or after Jessica Lucero was shot.
Jensen would not confirm or deny reports that one of the Luceros’ children was at home at the time of his parents’ deaths, but did say there was somebody else in the home at the time.
"They did not see or hear anything, or were a part of anything," Jensen said.
As police continue investigating, Jensen said they still have not discovered a motive driving the murder-suicide.
"We’re still trying to dig into that," he said. "We won’t know that for awhile."
Neighbors and friends gathered at the home Monday to clean the house and mourn a couple they described as active parents and community members.
