What started out with a traffic stop for tailgating ended with an arrest on drug distribution in jail for a Spanish Fork woman.
A Utah County sheriff’s deputy observed the 24-year-old woman driving too close to the car in front of her Friday, a probable cause statement filed in 4th District Court stated. The deputy said in court papers that when he pulled the woman over, she appeared nervous, and he could smell marijuana in the car.

A drug-sniffing dog was called in, and indicated that there were possibly drugs in the front seat of the car. The deputy reported finding six amphetamine pills in a plastic cigarette wrapper in the woman’s purse. The woman said they belonged to her daughter.
The woman was taken to the Utah County jail, and during a search was found to have a baggie containing what police said was cocaine in her mouth, as well as a 3.5-inch-long, 1-inch-diameter methamphetamine crystal in her vagina. Based on the amount of drugs found, she was arrested on suspicion of possessing a distributable amount of methamphetamine in jail, a first-degree felony.
She was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine in a correctional facility, a second-degree felony; possession of amphetamine, a third-degree felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor; and following too closely, a class C misdemeanor.
Her bail was set at $10,000, and jail records indicate she was booked out of the jail. She has a first appearance before Judge Darold McDade on Nov. 13.
