West Jordan man arrested after allegedly stabbing wife
First Published Nov 04 2012 11:27 am • Last Updated Mar 06 2013 11:32 pm

Police arrested a West Jordan man on suspicion of attempted murder Sunday morning after he allegedly attacked his wife with a knife during a domestic dispute.

West Jordan police officer J.C. Holt said officers responded about 1:55 a.m. to the home near 9000 South and 4800 West. When they arrived, Holt said, a woman told them that she and her husband were involved in an argument when her husband suddenly grabbed her around the neck and started to strangle her. When he released her, the woman said he then grabbed a knife and stabbed her before fleeing the scene, Holt said.

He said the woman suffered a defensive-type stab wound to her hand and was also cut in the face. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, but is expected to recover, he said.

The couple’s three children were home at the time.

Holt said the husband was apprehended a short distance away and transported to the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of attempted murder for the stabbing, aggravated assault for the choking, domestic violence in the presence of children, and for disabling a communication device when his wife was trying to call 911 for help.
