Police say alcohol, a car crashed into a house and a teeth-baring fracas with his boyfriend ended up Thursday putting a Salt Lake City man behind bars.

Police Det. Josh Ashdown said the 32-year-old man allegedly was intoxicated when he arrived home about 1 a.m. Thursday and crashed his car into the house. The collision caused "significant damage" to the car and siding of the home, located near 1800 W. Mojave Drive.

Hearing the noise, the driver's 39-year-old partner came out to investigate, saw the wreckage and an argument ensued. The disagreement moved inside, culminating with the driver biting his partner, who was still in his underwear, on the hip.

Ashdown said the bite victim's injuries were superficial and treated at the scene.

As for the driver, he was arrested and booked into Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, criminal mischief and assault.
