A 55-year-old Carbon County man charged with murder after his brother’s decomposing body was found in a bedroom sealed with duct tape and plastic last month appeared in 7th District Court on Wednesday.
Kurt Alan Morris waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and is now scheduled to enter his plea to the charge of murder, a first-degree felony, on Nov. 5. The Carbon County Attorney’s Office believes Jack Roger Morris was shot in the head on Aug. 18. His body wasn’t discovered until Sept. 4 after police were called to the brothers’ home when neighbors spotted a hose running from the exhaust pipe of a truck into Morris’ mobile home.

Deputies discovered Kurt Morris on the floor, and upon searching the home, found his brother’s body behind a bedroom door that had been sealed with plastic and duct tape.
It appeared that Kurt Morris was attempting to commit suicide, Carbon County sheriff’s officials said. He was treated and released from the hospital, and was then taken to the sheriff’s office for an interview, and was subsequently booked into jail.
