Get ready for some snow.
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City said a cold fall storm is on the way to Utah.
Come Sunday night, rain was expected across portion of northern Utah with snow about 9,000 feet.
As strong winds move into the state, snow levels will begin to lower across the north Monday night, and there is a potential for significant snow accumulation in the northern mountains through Thursday night, the weather service said.
The snow probably won’t reach the valley floors across far north Utah until late Tuesday. By Wednesday, the snow will likely extend across the central valleys. Accumulation in the valleys will be light and likely won’t stick to paved surfaces, the weather service said.
Some snowfall could continue across northern Utah and southeast Wyoming until Friday.
The precipitation is expected to remain in northern Utah while southern Utah stays dry.
However, a wind advisory was issued for most of Utah that will go into effect Monday.
The advisory, which will remain in effect until 10 p.m. Monday, includes the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys, the Great Salt Lake desert from Interstate 80 south, the southern Wasatch Front, the San Rafael Swell, the Sanpete and Sevier valleys, south-central Utah and the Glen Canyon Recreation area.
Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected in those areas with gusts up to 50 mph, which could make travel difficult in areas.
