Salt Lake City police investigated a suspicious package near North Temple and State Street.
About 4:50 p.m., police got a call about a package — similar to a laptop bag — next to the front door of a dental office, which was closed for the day, said Lt. J.R. Nelson. Someone from an adjacent business was the one who noticed it, he said.

Police blocked off the street between North Temple and South Temple so the bomb squad could investigate the package.
The bomb squad robot opened the package, which only contained books, papers and other personal items, Nelson said.
The scene was cleared about 8:45 p.m. and the road closure was lifted.
