Firefighters from multiple agencies rushed to the scene of a shop building fire in Smithfield.

Smithfield Fire Chief Jay Downs said the cause of the Thursday 1:30 p.m. blaze at 71 E. 490 North did not appear suspicious, but it remained under investigation Friday.

Damage to the 40-by-40-foot structure was estimated at $70,000. In addition to the shop itself, tools and two four-wheel OHVs were heavily damaged.

No injuries were reported.

Fighting the blaze were crews from Smithfield and neighboring North Logan and Logan, as well as the Cache County Fire District.
