An SUV struck and killed a 39-year-old woman Thursday as she attempted to cross a dark, busy road in Taylorsville.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said Friday the victim has been identified as Robin A. Cruz, of Taylorsville.

The woman was hit by an eastbound Chevrolet Blazer near 5400 South and 2100 West about 10 p.m. Cruz had stepped off the curb and had begun walking across 5400 South from the south side when struck, witnesses said.
"There is no crosswalk where the pedestrian was crossing, and there is not much by way of lighting. We don’t believe drugs or alcohol are factors," Hoyal said.
Cruz was rushed to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray in extremely critical condition but was pronounced dead a short time later, Hoyal said.
Neither the 21-year-old driver of the SUV nor his passenger was hurt. No citations were issued, but the accident is under investigation.
