An internal poll by Ben McAdams' campaign has the Democrat leading Republican rival Mark Crockett by less than 1 percent in a tight race for Salt Lake County mayor.

The McAdams poll has him leading Crockett 40.8 percent to 39.9 percent, with 19.3 percent of respondents undecided. Among the undecideds, 27 percent said they were leaning toward McAdams compared to 21.5 percent for Crockett, said McAdams campaign manager Justin Miller.

He concluded the combination of committed and probable supporters gave McAdams a 47.8 percent to 43.5 percent edge over Crockett.

A Dan Jones and Associates poll Oct. 2 for KSL and the Deseret News put Crockett on top, 40 percent to 37 percent, with 23 percent undecided.
