Salt Lake City police want to remind the public to expect road closures and traffic delays Saturday morning due to the Utah Marathon.
The events start at 6:30 a.m. on 200 East between 400 and 500 South, which will be closed to traffic. Officers will also close the marathon routes, but allow traffic to drive through the major intersections in the course when there are no runners in it.
However, the police warn that drivers may have to wait as long as 20 minutes at different points throughout the morning for the participants.
The half marathon will affect the areas of Liberty Park, 9th & 9th and Sunnyside Avenue up to 8 a.m., according to the marathon website. The rest of the route areas should be mostly open to traffic by 10 a.m., the website adds.
Even after 1 p.m., when all remaining runners will be directed to the sidewalk, 200 East between 400 and 500 South will remain closed for after-race events.
