A man escaped serious injury after being clipped by a slow-moving light rail train in downtown Salt Lake City late Friday morning.

Utah Transit Authority spokesman Gerry Carpenter said the man, in his 30s, was hit while running east along the tracks near 600 West and 300 South about 11:45 a.m. as the Blue Line TRAX train was pulling into Salt Lake Central Station.

The man was not believed to have sustained any serious injuries but was transported to a local hospital to be checked out as a precaution, Carpenter said.
