A golf tournament to raise money for Toys for Tots is planned Friday at Bonneville Golf Course, 954 Cannon St. in Salt Lake City.

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserves is hosting the first-ever tournament, which begins with registration at 8 a.m. The shotgun start will be at 9 a.m. The cost is $85 for individual golfers and $325 for a foursome. There also will be raffles during the day.

Sonny Davila, a Vietnam War veteran who is the chairman for the tournament, called it "a wonderful cause. … It's all for toys for children in our community."

The Reserves' Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys in October, November and December each year and distributes them as Christmas gifts to children in low-income homes.

More information is available from Davila at 801-864-4881 or from Staff Sgt. Christopher Mondragon, Christopher.mondragon@usmc.mil.
