Unified Fire Authority crews rushed to the scene of a two-alarm residential fire in the Millcreek area late Thursday morning.
UFA spokesman Cliff Burningham said two families four people in one unit, two in the other were evacuated without injury. The Red Cross was assisting them with food, clothing and shelter.
The blaze was reported at 11:19 a.m. and firefighters had it out within half an hour. However, Burningham estimated damages in excess of $100,000 to the two homes at 804 E. Red Maple Road (3780 South).
The cause of the blaze which also burned a car outside the duplex and at one point threatened a neighboring duplex was still under investigation, but appeared to be accidental.
