The driver of the car that hit the semitrailer died at scene, troopers said. The car was wedged under the semitrailer, and investigators were trying to confirm the driver was the only person in the car. The driver’s age and gender were not known as of Tuesday evening.

The motorist in the initial crash was expected to survive, troopers said.
