A driver died after rear-ending a semitrailer on Interstate 15 near Willard.

A car crashed about 5 p.m. at mile post 355, bringing northbound traffic to a stop, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said. A semitrailer stopped in the left lane and was rear-ended by a car at 5:13 p.m., about four miles south of the initial crash, troopers said.

The driver of the car that hit the semitrailer died at scene, troopers said. The car was wedged under the semitrailer, and investigators were trying to confirm the driver was the only person in the car. The driver's age and gender were not known as of Tuesday evening.

The motorist in the initial crash was expected to survive, troopers said.
