A man led officers on a pursuit through West Valley City Friday night until it ended with him ramming one of their cars.
Police were out on a stolen vehicle operation when they came across the suspect in a vehicle in the Valley Fair Mall parking lot, said Unified Police Detective Levi Hughes. When they tried to stop the suspect about 8 p.m., he fled.

Officers pursued the man until he rammed an officer’s car on the passenger side near 4000 West and 5400 South, which brought the chase to an end, Hughes said.
The officer was only slightly injured, and the suspect wasn’t hurt, Hughes said. Police arrested the man and booked him into Salt Lake County jail under suspicion of drug possession and distribution, fleeing and aggravated assault.
The suspect’s vehicle did not appear to be stolen, Hughes said.
