Provo man critical after motorcycle accident
A Provo man suffered extensive head and chest injuries Tuesday afternoon after he was struck on his motorcycle in Spanish Fork.
The 59-year-old man was driving east on Expressway Lane when he pulled up to a stop sign at the intersection with State Route 51. After waiting for traffic to clear, he turned left onto SR 51 but he didn't see the southbound vehicle that he had pulled out in front of, said Spanish Fork Police Chief Steve Adams.
The injured man was not wearing a helmet, said Adams, and believes the head and chest injuries he suffered were critical. He was flown in a helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and later taken to University Hospital, Adams said.
The investigation is ongoing, but at this point it appears the driver who hit him was not at fault, Adams said. Only traffic turning onto SR 51 has a stop sign at the intersection.
