A man was grazed by a bullet early Sunday in Midvale.

The victim, 22, was in the parking lot of an apartment complex near 800 West and Wasatch Street (7995 South) about 12:45 a.m., when a man on foot fired at least two rounds in his direction, said Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal.

One round struck a car, and the other grazed the victim, Hoyal said. The victim was treated at the scene.

The shooter fled, Hoyal said. Witnesses reported a white sports-utility vehicle left the scene about the time of the shooting. Investigators later found a change of clothing near the scene, but they do not know whether it is connected to the shooting.

Officers believe the shooting was gang-related. They are asking anyone with information to call 801-743-7000.
