The victim of a shooting Thursday night in West Valley City died Saturday, and police have arrested a 16-year-old male relative who was found at the residence.

James Michael George, 52, died of injuries related to the shooting, said West Valley City police Sgt. Mike Powell.

Police arrived at George's residence near 3700 South and 6800 West shortly before midnight on Thursday.

George had multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, police said. He was airlifted to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition.

George's wife and the 16-year-old boy were home when police arrived. Powell said the investigation is ongoing but that the 16-year-old was arrested.

The boy was booked into a juvenile detention facility, and charges will be screened by the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office sometime next week.

Police did not specify what charges they are pursuing against the boy or whether he was arrested in connection with the homicide.
