A Nephi man injured in a North Dakota oil rig explosion last week was taken off life support Friday.

Jeffrey Todd Kinkaid, 28, was critically injured during a Sept. 4 explosion where he became wedged beneath a burning tank and suffered burns on about 90 percent of his body.

According to an online fundraising site set up by Kinkaid's friends, the man passed away Friday morning at a Minnesota hospital.

Kinkaid's friend, Jacey Roby, had written on the website that doctors estimated that much of Kinkaid's body had 4th-degree burns. No one else was injured in the Frontier Drilling accident.
