Repo man threatened with a gun in Layton

A tow truck driver was threatened by a man with a gun early Thursday morning when the driver tried to repossess his car.

The driver arrived at the man’s home on the 1000 East block of Meadow Way Drive in Layton about 2:30 a.m. to repossess the man’s Honda. The man heard the repossession taking place in his driveway and went outside to see what was going on, said Layton police Sgt. James Petre.

The man went into his house and came back with a revolver, which he pointed at the driver and told him to drop the car, Petre said. At some point the man fired one round into the air and pointed the gun back at the driver, who dropped the car and left, Petre said.

Police arrested the man later that day and booked him into Davis County jail under suspicion of aggravated assault.
