Juvenile Justice counselor charged with client sex

A state Juvenile Justice counselor has been charged with having sexual contact with a juvenile client.

Deputy Weber County Attorney Sandra Corp filed the second-degree felony count of custodial sexual relations with a youth receiving state services on Thursday in 2nd District Court, naming Victoria Sherrow, 36, of Roy, as the defendant.

A probable cause statement was not initially included with the filing, and Corp declined to discuss specifics of the case. She did say that while Sherrow has been issued a summons to appear in court, she had not been arrested.

Elizabeth Sollis, a spokeswoman with the Utah Department of Human Services, confirmed Sherrow that had worked as a Juvenile Justice counselor out of the agency's Millcreek office. She was hired in June 2006 and left the agency's employ on Nov. 29, 2011.

That departure date was the day after the alleged sexual incidents purportedly ended. Court documents say the unspecified sexual acts occurred between Aug. 19 and Nov. 28 of 2011. The charges refer to the alleged victim only by initials, and do not identify gender.

The filing documents indicate that the allegations were at least initially investigated by Weber State University police. Officers there were prohibited from discussing the investigation.

Sherrow could not be reached for comment, either, as her telephone is not listed.
