An accident involving two semi rigs on a stretch of Interstate 84 in Box Elder County brought traffic to a crawl Friday morning.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the crashes occurred at 5:46 a.m. near mile post 15 and the Hansel Valley exit. An eastbound truck, hauling a load of scrap metal, took a curve too fast, tipped and rolled into the median and sent debris onto adjacent westbound lanes. A westbound semi then struck the debris, briefly catching fire.
Both semi drivers sustained minor injuries. One driver was transported to a local hospital, the other was treated at the scene and released.
Johnson said that clearing the wreckage and the ongoing investigation forced restriction of westbound traffic to one lane most of Friday morning. Full traffic flow through the area had resumed by early Friday afternoon.
No citations were issued, but Johnson said it appeared likely the first semi's driver would be cited for speeding.
