A convicted sex-offender living in Sanpete County has pleaded guilty in another sex abuse case.
Lyman Kalmar Barlow, 49, of Fairview, was charged last year in 6th District Court with first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child for an incident that occurred from January 2006 to March 1, 2011, in Fairview, according to court information.
On Thursday, Barlow pleaded guilty to a reduced count of third-degree felony attempted sexual abuse of a child.
He faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 14 by Judge Wallace Lee.
In 2003, Barlow was charged in Sevier County with two second-degree felony counts of forcible sexual abuse. He pleaded guilty to two lesser third-degree felony counts of attempted forcible sex abuse.
Barlow's prison sentence was suspended, and he was sentenced to 36 months probation and 54 days in jail, despite prosecutors' objections that Barlow was showing "red flags of denial," according to court documents. The charges were reduced to class A misdemeanors after Barlow successfully completed probation.
