Finally, those thunderstorms which have been flirting with the region are expected to bring some rain, along with cooler temperatures for Utah going into the weekend.
The National Weather Service says resulting showers, while widespread, will be somewhat isolated, but the chances for precipitation — in places heavy — will steadily increase Saturday and Sunday for the entire state.

Temperatures along the Wasatch Front were forecast to range in the mid- to high-80s, a welcome respite from highs that had been near triple digits just a week ago. In southern Utah, the mercury was to slide to the high-80s and low-90s, also a welcome retreat from highs that had in some cases been well above 100 degrees last week.
The Utah Division of Air Quality, meanwhile, hoisted its "Green," or healthy, air quality flags for the entire state going into this weekend.
Salt Lake City’s forecast called for a high of 90 on Friday and 85 degrees on Saturday; Ogden expected 87 and 83 degrees, respectively; Provo 90 and 85; Logan 83 and 82; Wendover 83s; Duchesne 84 and 80; Cedar City 83 and 80; St. George 92 and 90; and Moab 94 and 91 degrees.
