A West Valley City man has been sentenced to jail for a sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl earlier this summer.
Antonio Jose Perez, 29, pleaded guilty this week in 3rd District Court to a first-degree felony count of attempted object rape for the June attack. Felony burglary and kidnapping charges, as well as three misdemeanor counts were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
Perez was sentenced to a year in jail, and given credit for the 75 days he has already served. After his release, he will be deported.
According to court documents, the 14-year-old girl was home on June 23 when she heard a noise at the door and saw Perez in the breezeway. Perez grabbed her and groped her breasts, court documents state.
The girl pulled away, but Perez continued to sexually assault her, according to the charges. The girl managed to get away as Perez tried to take her to his car. The girl's mother told police that, after her daughter told her what had happened, she found Perez and held on to him until police arrived.
