The Sanpete County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who drowned in Yuba Lake over the weekend.

Sheriff Brian Nielsen said Archie Brock, 29, of Taylorsville, drowned Saturday afternoon near the Painted Rock area of Yuba State Park.

Witnesses told sheriff's deputies that Brock had shouted for help before disappearing under the surface of the lake about 3:30 p.m. He did not resurface and family members dove in, but were unsuccessful in locating him.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene after a 911 call and located Brock's body about five hours later.

Nielsen said Brock was pronounced dead at the scene.
