Authorities closed all lanes of Interstate-80 westbound temporarily to let a medical helicopter land on the freeway near the Salt Flats after a DUI-related accident Friday night.
A man driving a car while allegedly under the influence lost control of his car and hit into a semi-tractor trailer in the adjacent lane, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ted Tingey.

The man had head injuries, but were said to be non-life threatening.
At about 8 p.m. officers responded to the crash and both lanes of traffic were closed. Tingey said that at 9 p.m. the patient was loaded onto the helicopter, and when it left traffic would be opened up to one lane, while troopers continue to investigate scene.
The driver of the semi drove off to the side of the road after the crash and was not injured.
All lanes of traffic were opened by 11 p.m.
