Two people were injured in a helicopter crash in Spanish Fork on Friday afternoon.
An instructor and his student were flying on the east side of the Spanish Fork-Springville Airport, simulating engine failure when one of the helicopter skids appeared to hit the ground, said Spanish Fork Police Lt. Brandon Anderson. The helicopter crashed on the far east side of the airport and off the runway about 4:42 p.m., Anderson said.

The instructor was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the student was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Anderson said. It was not clear who was in control of the helicopter during the simulation, he added.
The flying lesson in the R22-model helicopter was through the Utah Helicopter aviation school out of Spanish Fork, Anderson said.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will continue the investigation.
