UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said that Strong was riding in an eastbound pickup truck with her husband and several young children when it hit a bump and the bicycle fell off about 2 p.m. Monday. The truck stopped and pulled over on the right side. Strong had retrieved the bike from the left lane and was on her way back to the truck when she was struck by a Nissan Sentra.

She was taken to a Salt Lake City hospital, where she underwent surgery for multiple injuries.

The accident remained under investigation.
