North to south, Utah’s forecast Wednesday called for continued hot temperatures — but partly cloudy skies and potential thunderstorms were on the horizon for later in the week.
The National Weather Service said northern Utahns could look for high temperatures in the mid-90s Wednesday, a twin to the forecast for Tuesday. In southern Utah, high temperatures were expected to rise well above 100 degrees both days, though storm clouds may bring some welcome rainy relief Wednesday as well.

Air quality statewide was compromised Tuesday and that was expected to generally continue on Wednesday. "Yellow" or unhealthy air grades were issued Tuesday for Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, Cache, Box Elder, Tooele, Utah and Uintah counties; only Washington and Carbon counties earned a "Green," or healthy air quality rating, according to the Utah Division of Environmental Quality.
Salt Lake City’s high temperature Wednesday was pegged at 96 degrees, up one degree from Tuesday’s forecast; Ogden expected 94 and 93 degrees, respectively; Provo 95 and 94; Logan 94 and 93; Wendover 96 and 94; Duchesne 86 and 83; Cedar City 90 and 87; St. George 104 degrees both days; and Moab 95 and 91 degrees.
