Two men were in custody Sunday, hours after they allegedly pinned a man to the wall in Sandy and stabbed him in the neck.
Sandy police Lt. Justin Chapman said the victim and three other men were drinking about 3 a.m. in an apartment near 8600 South and 300 East when two of the men suddenly grabbed the victim.

Chapman said while one man pinned the victim to the wall, the other took a knife and stabbed him in the hand and neck. He said the man’s finger was cut to the bone.
The victim fled to a neighbor’s home, who called 911. Chapman said the victim then ran away from the neighbor’s home. Police found him nearby a short time later. He was transported to a hospital and underwent surgery.
Chapman said one man immediately surrendered to officers and was taken into custody. But the second, who allegedly did the stabbing, refused to come out of the apartment, he said.
SWAT was called, made entry into the apartment and took the man into custody without further incident, he said.
The fourth man, who rents the apartment, was questioned and released.
Chapman said detectives still aren’t sure what motivated the assault but said alcohol was believed to be a major factor.
