A Utah Transit Authority TRAX train collided with a car Friday during rush hour in downtown Salt Lake City, but no injuries were reported.

Salt Lake City police Lt. Josh Scharman said the accident happened at 5:15 p.m. at 200 South 400 West.

Scharman said the TRAX train "made contact" with a car and shoved the car into another car, causing "cosmetic damage" to both.

No one was injured, and both cars were able to drive away from the scene.

Scharman said no citations had been issued. Police were still investigating how the train hit the two cars.

UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter said the minor accident did not cause any schedule delays, "the train was released almost immediately," he said.

The biggest headache may have been the back up to traffic on 400 West heading south during rush hour as traffic was reduced down to one lane.
