A highway patrol news release said Gloria Monk was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry south on U.S. Highway 89. About 3:30 p.m., her vehicle drifted off the right side of the road, according to the highway patrol. The news release said troopers do not know why.
Gloria Monk over corrected to the left, causing the Camry to go into a broadside slide as it came back onto the highway. West was riding a 1997 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle north and collided with the front passenger side of the Camry.
Arnold Monk was wearing a seat belt, but the highway patrol said West was not wearing a helmet.
