Krakauer’s book dovetails the history of the LDS Church and the 1984 double murder in Utah of Brenda Lafferty and her baby daughter, Erica, committed by Brenda’s brothers-in-law Ron and Dan Lafferty, who were involved in a severely fundamentalist Mormon sect.
Dustin Lance Black, who is doing the screenplay adaptation of Krakauer’s book, was a scheduled panelist but was unable to appear due to a scheduling conflict.
