Unified Fire Authority investigators Sunday were looking into what sparked an early morning two-alarm blaze that displaced three adults and a dog.
Unified Fire Capt. Cliff Burningham said the fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. at a Draper home at 339 E. Manti Drive (14815 South).
He said two of the residents were woken by noise from the fast-moving fire and their smoke alarms and were able to safely evacuate.
When firefighters arrived, Burningham said they found a tree and the back of the house on fire. The blaze quickly spread through the basement and up into the first floor, he said.
No one was injured. He said the fire caused about $300,000 in damage and rendered the home uninhabitable. The Red Cross was assisting the three residents, only two of whom were home at the time, and their dog.
The cause remained under investigation, but Burningham said it didn't appear the fire was intentionally set.
