Afternoon and evening thunderstorms, along with scattered rain showers, were expected to provide periodic relief from the heat through Utah’s weather weekend.
But the National Weather Service still predicted high temperatures in the low-to mid-90s for northern Utah and nearing and sometimes topping triple digits in the southern reaches of the state through Monday.

The state’s air quality, however, was expected to remain in the "Green," or healthy category, according to the Utah Division of Environmental Quality.
Salt Lake City’s high temperature Saturday was pegged at 95, while expectations for Sunday and Monday were identical 96-degree readings; Ogden looked for highs of 92, 94 and 94, respectively; Provo 96, 95 and 96; Logan 91, 92 and 93; Wendover 96, 94 and 94; Duchesne 89, 86 and 88; Cedar City 90, 89 and 90; St. George 101, 100 and 101; and Moab 06, 92 and 93 degrees.
