A 41-year-old Colombian national was being held without bail Friday, the day after he allegedly held up a downtown Salt Lake City bank.
Salt Lake City police Detective Dennis McGowan said a man entered the Wells Fargo branch at 778 S. Main St. just before noon Thursday, brandished a black handgun, jumped over the counter and demanded cash. A clerk complied and the robber fled, reportedly getting into a gold Buick sedan.

McGowan said investigators, acting on "quite accurate" descriptions provided by bank employees and customers, located the suspect at his place of work a few hours later and took him into custody without incident. Witnesses also provided the getaway car’s license plate number, according to a probable cause statement.
Specifics about the man’s workplace or its location were not immediately released.
The man was booked into Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of first-degree felony aggravated robbery.
