The National Weather Service issued a "Red Flag" wildfire danger warning going into the weekend as a hot, dry and windy climatic pattern returned to much of Utah.
The advisory covers an area west and east of the Wasatch Mountain Range from Logan running south through Weber, Salt Lake and Utah counties to Nephi, and also includes a swath of land extending into the northeastern Utah's Uinta Mountains.
High temperatures for northern Utah Saturday were expected to range into the low-90s, the same as Friday's forecast. Southern Utahns looked for triple-digit temperatures both days, along with thunderstorms and isolated showers.
The Utah Division of Environmental Quality issued "Green," or healthy air quality rankings for the entire state going into the weekend.
Salt Lake City's high for Saturday was predicted to be 92 degrees, up one degree from Friday's forecast; Ogdenites expected 89 and 88 degrees, respectively; Provo 94 and 92; Logan 89 and 88; Wendover 91 and 93; Duchesne 86 degrees both days; Cedar City 90 and 93; St. George 100 and 01; and Moab 96 and 97 degrees.
